My approach: I specialise exclusively in Squarespace. Being a Squarespace Circle Member and focusing on one platform allows me to deliver streamlined builds, refined design systems, and long-term ease of management for my clients.

  • Squarespace is a website building and hosting platform that allows us to design, build, and manage your website in a single system. It includes modern templates, responsive design, e-commerce functionality, and SEO tools.

  • Squarespace is a reliable, all-in-one platform that includes hosting, templates, SSL security, and built-in design features. It’s easy to maintain, mobile-friendly, and ideal for small businesses who want a professional online presence without ongoing technical headaches.

  • Yes! Squarespace is user-friendly, so you can update text, images, and blog posts yourself. We’ll provide guidance during handover so you feel confident managing your site.

  • For the First Light (Basic) Package, the design and build process usually takes around 2–3 weeks, including review and edits. The Elevate (Professional) Package may take slightly longer depending on customisations and marketing integrations.

  • Clients are responsible for providing website copy, photos, and branding assets. You can also share example designs that inspire you. We can offer guidance if needed.

  • Ongoing costs include your Squarespace subscription and domain renewal. Optional marketing or maintenance services can also be added. Year 2 onward, you’ll pay only the recurring platform and domain fees and 10% facilitation fee.

  • Yes! All Squarespace websites are fully responsive, and I focus specifically on optimizing the mobile experience, since the majority of visitors access sites on mobile devices.

  • Once the site is live, you’ll have the option to include updates, maintenance, or marketing integrations. You’ll also receive guidance on how to manage your website yourself.

  • Yes — you are welcome to choose your own domain name if available. While .co.za domains are not registered directly through Squarespace, they can still be used by purchasing them through a local domain provider and connecting them to your website. Makuku Design can guide and assist with this process to ensure your preferred domain is successfully linked to your new site.

  • Yes — if you already have a domain name, it can be connected to your new website. Makuku Design can assist with linking your existing domain to your Squarespace site or transferring it if required. This ensures you keep your established web address while benefiting from your new website design.
